Hayle's first major win came in 2014 when he won the Zurich marathon, and then following that he also won marathons in Dubai and Warsaw. In Boston, he was faced with the task of defeating the two-time defending champ, Lelisa Desisa, but he did so with ease after breaking away around the 25 mile mark. He is sponsored by Adidas, who is certainly glad to have him as one of their athletes after so many major wins.
Baysa is credited with overcoming one of the biggest deficits in Boston Marathon history - at the 22 mile mark she was trailing in second place by 37 seconds, which is a lot of time to make up over just four miles. Winning Boston is a huge accomplishment and warrants immense respect, especially after overcoming such a deficit, and then after the race Baysa did yet another outstanding deed. In honor of the fifty year anniversay of Bobbi Gibb secretly entering the marathon (see Women Join the Marathon), Baysa gave her trophy to Gibb after the race.
